With my son at KLIA

You won’t hear me complaining about a dull weekend for the next few weeks. Last week-end had been quite hectic for me –physically and mentally. Two different highlights on two different days…

Saturday 17th January 2009.

My brother-in-law/author of the book, ‘Fatimah’s Kampung’, gave a talk on his book at the invitation of Badan Warisan. My day started at about 9.00am when I went to my sister’s house together with my youngest daughter Hannah. Anyway by 10.00am, we were already at the Badan Warisan – one hour before the talk was due to begin. So together with his editor, copies of the original drawings and pictures were put up. People were streaming in and soon the talk began. I was there with the video camera to record the whole event. The Q & A session was pretty interesting and it lasted almost as long as the talk itself.

By 12.00pm I had to excuse myself as my daughter had some other programmes.


Sunday,18th. January 2009.

After months of anxiety, the day has arrived for my son’s departure to another faraway foreign soil. I thought I would be seasoned enough to withstand a departure of my son again. I mean, at his age of 18, he departed for his studies in UK. On graduation, he only stayed home for about 6 months, then another sending off when he left for South Africa to be a race engineer with a Touring Car Team. After two years, he had to go off again- this time to Switzerland to be with an F1 team. Five years he was there and after about two years at HOME, he’s off again to a the other side of the globe.

So – after all that, I thought I am used to sending him off at KLIA, right? Wrong! I am still affected and already missing him. But I know it’ll be ok after a few days.
